Event Information:

Join us for an exciting opportunity to see the incredible world beneath the surface of one of our treasured Harford County waterways, Deer Creek. With our special host - professional creek snorkeler, author, and Executive Director at NorthBay Adventure, Keith Williams, we will put on goggles and breathe through snorkels as we explore the underwater world of wildlife in a creek, a view that few people have ever experienced! We will meet in the gravel parking lot at Deer Creek Conservation Area, a beautiful, primative area preserved along Deer Creek, which is at the north side of Sandy Hook Road, just off Route 1, parking is limited so please carpool. There will be a short hike, less than a 1/4 mile back to the best snorkeling spot. Questions? Contact via email or phone 443-333-9453. Details: * Cost is $10 per person (see ticket link). Additional donations welcome! Price includes use of one set of goggles and a snorkel. Limited availability. * Participation is limited due to space contraints and available sets of goggles / snorkels. First come first served (see link for purchase) * All ages, those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult * Participants must be able to swim, the water will be fairly shallow but deeper pockets may exist and the creek does have a swift current in certain areas * Shoes are strongly recommended since rocks and possible debris can be sharp or slippery- old sneakers, water shoes, or sandles that can be secured (flip flops not ideal). * Waterproof cameras or GoPro type action cameras will give you some fun photos and video to bring home. We recommend straps so you don't lose your camera. * Please bring towels and anything you might need to warm up after the snorkeling. There is not a changing area or rest rooms at this site. There is a Wawa and Royal Farm store approximately 5 minutes east on Route 1 and 136. *** Please note that a rain date will be announced should we cancel it. We will cancel event if thunderstorms are expected or water conditions are not safe / suitable for snokeling *** * Event made possible by a Tourism Grant from the Harford County Office of Economic Development.
