Official Rules

General Contest Information

Topics to consider are listed below, but we encourage creativity.

Nature & the Outdoors: Scenic shots of Harford County's parks, waterways and wildlife from any time of the year. Action shots of people of all ages playing, biking, hiking, fishing, boating, bird watching, etc.

Arts & History: Historical sites, buildings, landmarks, and cultural attractions such as Concord Point Lighthouse, public art pieces, museums etc.

Sports: Sport Venues and Golf Courses such as Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium, The Ripken Experience, Cedar Lane, Bulle Rock, etc.  Action shots of people playing soccer, lacrosse, baseball, etc.

Faces and People of Harford: Photos of you, your friends and family around Harford County at festivals, wineries, breweries and local shops.  

Trails: Photos of our thematic trails Barn Quilt, Snowball, Ice Cream, Golf etc.

Who May Enter

The contest is open to any photographer over 18 years old.

If you are under the age of 18, then your parent or legal guardian must enter on your behalf.

All photos must be taken in Harford County, Maryland.

Visit Harford employees, their immediate family members, and people living in their households are ineligible.

How To Enter

Visit https://bit.ly/3kEg6yV and complete the entry form. Only online entries will be accepted.

 Photos will be accepted from August 15, 2023 at 10 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time to October 31, 2023 at 5 p.m. EDT.

By submitting a photo, you promise that your entry complies with the Official Rules.

You may submit up to 10 photos per category. Each photo must be in digital format and have a caption. All photos must be submitted as high-resolution JPEG files. Each photo must be at least 5x7 (or 1500x2100) at 300 dpi or larger. If you submit any photo less than this resolution standard, then the photo may be ineligible. Photos must be taken by the entrant and be the property of the entrant.

Photos must comply with all applicable laws.

Photos that are obscene, defamatory, sexually explicit, or inappropriate will be disqualified at our discretion.

Photos must have been taken within two years of entry into this contest.

Photos may not have been published previously for monetary payment.

Only minor editing of a photo is acceptable. Extensively edited photos will be ineligible.

Before submitting a photo with an identifiable person, you must obtain their permission for use of the photo.

Prizes

1st Place: Visit Harford Getaway which includes an overnight stay at the Vandiver Inn, dinner at a local restaurant, 4 tickets to Carpenters Tribute Christmas Show and their winning photo on the Visit Harford website, in a Visit Harford e-newsletter, and in the next published Visit Harford Inspirational Guide.

2nd Place: $100 gift card to a Harford County restaurant and the opportunity, at the discretion of Visit Harford, to have their winning photo displayed on the Visit Harford website and in the next published Visit Harford Inspirational Guide.

3rd Place: Visit Harford "Swag Bag" Courtesy of Mason Dixon Country which includes gift cards to local shops and the opportunity, at the discretion of Visit Harford, to have their winning photo displayed on the Visit Harford website and in the next published Visit Harford Inspirational Guide.

We will e-mail or call winners by November 30, 2023. If you don’t provide a valid e-mail address and telephone number, your entry may be disqualified. If winners don’t claim their prize, we may select an alternate winner or not award the prize.

Prizes may not be transferred.

Judging

Our judges, at their sole discretion, will make 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place selections based on the quality, composition, content, originality, creativity, and mass appeal. Decisions are final.

Only winners will be notified of the outcome. A list of the winners will be posted on our website from November 30, 2023  to December 31, 2023.

Other Very Important Agreements and Information

By entering, all entrants grant to Visit Harford the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right, currently and in the future, in any media or on any merchandise. to : (i) reproduce, distribute, and display any photo entered in the contest, and (ii) to modify and create derivative works of any photo entered in the contest.

Entries become the property of Visit Harford when submitted and will not be returned.

We may terminate or modify any part of the contest at any time for any reason.

We may disqualify anyone who violates these Official Rules.

By entering, all entrants agree to release and indemnify Visit Harford, its agents and employees from all claims related to the contest and the present or future use of the photos submitted.
